Working with select physicians over the years, Dr. Rotman has developed several important surgical techniques that have found widespread acceptance. The most well-known are:

Modified Technique of Open Laparoscopy

Developed with Dr. Harrith Hasson in the 1980's, the modified technique is now one of the most commonly used in the world, due in great part to its reduction in cost, time, and risk to the patient.

Simplified Laparoscopic Abdominal Morcellation (SLAM) Technique

Looking for a way to improve specimen removal during laparoscopy, Dr. Rotman developed the SLAM Technique in the 1990's. Since then, SLAM has proven its value in a number of laparoscopic procedures. Recently, OBIE associate Dr. Carlos Sueldo and his team presented an analysis of Dr. Rotman's SLAM Technique at the American Society of Reproductive Medicine 2003 Annual Meeting, demonstrating its superiority to costly and traumatic electric morcellation in laparoscopic myomectomies.
